Why Do Some People Tend to Use Highfaluting Words?
Let's talk about this.
My theory is that, they use highfaluting words so that they'll sound intelligent. It is so funny how they use these words. Sometimes, they don’t sound well at all. As in!
This is my first time to talk about this, by the way. Haha! Oh yeah, before I forget, I also do this. So, don’t worry at all. I’m not bashing people or whatsoever.
Back to my topic, it really sounds funny. You know why? Sometimes, the words don’t go well together. It sounds like you’re using thesaurus while writing something – which is not uncommon nowadays. Another reason, when people read it, they might think , “what is this wannabe talking about” or something else. The thing about this is that sometimes or most of the time, the words that you use are words that you know nothing about. Well, of course, use words that you know. Don’t just put words there without knowing them. You’ll really sound like a wannabe. :))
I’m gonna talk about something off topic now. I super hate people who are boastful. Super!@@
I know, I may sometimes sound boastful and all but, if ever I will sound one, I am not aware about it.
So yeah, back to the topic. I hate boastful people cause they’re not doing things prudently. For example, is it needed to show your grades to A LOT of people just to say you’re intelligent? WHAT? You’ll just be labeled as “mayabang”. There is nothing good about it. You just probably say it to people who ask you about them but not post them somewhere to be seen by other people. Well, just for
humility’s sakes. It just so cruel that you do it, because some people may not have the same grades as yours. In the end, you, as a person, will not be criticized by your grades in school but by the efforts you’ve done to be the person you are right now.
Hence, WE should do things at the right time and in the right place. That is prudency. We should be humble at all times. That’s what Ateneo is teaching us. Then, as Ateneans , we should abide this.
